Employing a method normally utilised by cabinetmakers two successive cross sections have been removed from a burr. These have been reversed and adjoined on a horizontal plane so that they reflect their shared surface. A burr is a type of malignancy formed when a tree undergoes some form of stress.

Six vessels have been cut from carboniferous limestone and positioned throughout an urban development built upon the quarry from where the limestone came. The stone was formed three hundred and fifty million years ago when the site was a tropical seabed and has been shaped to once again support water, in this case as a series of functioning birdbaths.

Cowrie shells have been collected from a local beach over a period of two working days (16hrs). Each shell has been placed within a corresponding recess cut into one of two tablets of limestone and subsequently offered as a medium of exchange.
Throughout history the cowrie shell has been used across cultures as a form of currency and a symbol of wealth and power.

Using a process of three-dimensional scanning, digital re-scaling, and a five axis robotic milling machine a 2mm deep skin has been systematically removed from the surface of a sandstone boulder from the quarry at Hardwick Hall. The off-cut material has been collected from the milling machine’s filtration system and screen-printed to create a wall-mounted linear panel of pigment. Commissioned by Meadow Arts for The National Trust to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Robert Smythson and the men who built Hardwick Hall.

After emerging from hibernation during early spring, the young queens set in to motion the construction of a colony. Wood fibre is collected from the surrounding area, mixed with saliva, and chewed to a pulp from which the nest is made. In the autumn, as it becomes colder, the colony dies leaving only the young queens to hibernate underground and the nest empty. A single wasp nest has been pulped and machine milled in to a sheet of paper.

Having swallowed its prey whole, the barn owls digestive system will extract any nutrition. The indigestible parts are then regurgitated as a compressed pellet.Over a period of one year pellets have been collected and processed in to their raw components of mouse fur and bone. The fur has been spun into yarn and, with the use of a loom; the yarn has been woven in to a sheet of fabric. The skeletons have been left as a heap, the size of which correlates directly with the fabric.
